Conspicuity

Conspicuity (conspicuousness or detectability) is a sign’s ability to attract attention and distinguish itself from its surroundings. A sign must first stand out before it can be read. Conspicuity depends on many factors, but the most important is placement within the cone of vision. Together with legibility, it determines the overall visibility.
