Surtitling for theatre and opera
Above the stage, LED displays show the translated or spoken text as surtitles, bright and readable from a distance. Daylight supplied surtitling for, among others, Philip Glass (Sint-Pietersplein, Ghent) and Flip Kowlier (AB Brussels).
More about surtitling for theatre
With Daylight's Subtitle software you enter your texts easily. In Edit mode you get an entry screen per page that is set to the right number of lines and characters per line. You can use the mouse, but for fast entry everything can be done from the keyboard.
During the performance (Run mode):
- You always see the previous, current and next page
- With 'Enter' or 'Page Down' you quickly move to the next page
- Is the text no longer in sync? Press pause for a black screen and jump back with 'Page Up/Down', without the audience noticing
- During the interval you show an announcement, such as the start time of the second part
The surtitling runs on Alpha 9670 RGB displays (e.g. 16 mm and 23 mm, 32x128), with adjustable text colour, number of lines, line spacing, font and font size depending on the size of the display.
